Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy has been alive even if he isn’t there today between us. The way he has put up the fight for the color discrimination in America, it still shakes the soul of the Historians who pictured the great moments of the Non-Violent Civil movement By Dr. King.
The Challenges Faced by the Society
Racial segregation is till alive in some parts of the world. The major issues which Martin Luther King rose was to give equal rights to the black and equality in the society. After his assassination his followers remained active in pursuing his life goals and in giving moral teachings to the students. One such lady was Jane Elliot who conducted a blue eyes-brown eyes classroom exercise.
King’s Family and Followers
Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy is maintained by his family, his wife and children. His wife, died in 2006, but remained actively involved after his death and was a part of justice for the society and was involved in civil movements. She also opened a Centre in Memory of the king, in Atlanta, Georgia. Dexter King, Dr. King’s Son serves as the chairman of the King Center.
The Government Support
The government of United States authorized the fraternity of Alpha Phi Alpha to manage funds and designs of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the mall in Washington. King is the first African- American Person to be honored with his own memorial. The martin Luther King Jr. Legacy is also active as a day in his memory is celebrated in America near his Birthday. In 2000, 17th January was observed as Martin Luther King Jr. day.
After the hero for many black’s who were targeted for racial abuse, the people now value his words and follow the foot steps in his movement for social rights and justice. Many literary works have been compiled after this great leader passed away. These include a stage play in the year 2006- Passages of Martin Luther King, and a movie which was directed by Robert Greenwald named on the famous speech of Dr. King – I have a dream.
Other works include the Testament Of hope, strength to love and stride towards freedom. The King’s statue at the Kelly Ingram Park stands tall and symbolizes his movement at Birmingham. At the Westminster abbey, Dr. King is the second one included in the martyr of the 20th century.
